All for the Arts Festival at the Cape Cod Museum of Art

October 4 and 5, 2008



CCMA will take part in the festivities in the town of Dennis during the first Annual Cape Cod Fall for the Arts Festival. Fall for the Arts is a new regional arts festival presented by the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod and Cape Cod VIEW magazine featuring family friendly performances and exhibitions in the towns of Falmouth, Dennis and Hyannis throughout the weekend.

CCMA's full week-end schedule of special talks and demonstrations follows below.

The main exhibitions on view will be:

Aiden Lassell Ripley: (1896-1969) A Retrospective: A broad range of subjects by one of America’s pre-eminent painters of the sporting life in the 1940s and 50s. Sunday will be the last day for this show.

At Home on the Cape - In celebration of the Fine Arts Work Center's 40th anniversary, this show spotlights artists who came to Provincetown as Fellows for the year-long program and made Cape Cod their home.

A show of Tapestry Artists Patricia Walker & Gretchen Romey-Tanzer

Cape Cod Plein Air Painters will be painting on the grounds at different times.

At anytime, children and parents can enjoy the Kids’ Treasure Hunt in the Galleries.

Saturday, October 4

9:00 am Curator Michael Giaquinto gives a private behind-the-scenes tour of the museum.

10:00am Talk with Tapestry Artists Patricia Walker & Gretchen Romey-Tanzer

11:00 am –A Docent Guided Tour of the Museum

1:00 pm – A Docent Guided Tour of the Museum

2:30 pm – Art In Its Soul, A half-hour documentary on the history of the Provincetown Art Colony, followed by a talk with the film’s writer, Debbie Forman, editor–in-chief of Cape Cod VIEW Magazine

3:30 pm – “Architecture of the Cape Cod Summer” Talk & book signing with John Da Silva of the award-winning firm of Polhemus Savery DaSilva Architects Builders.


Sunday, October 5

12:15 – Painting New England Together – This special talk with artists Jerome Greene Peter Kalill, and Lance Walker who have painted landscapes throughout New England together, brings back one of the museum’s most popular talks during the year. Showing samples of their work, they talk about their friendship and influence on each other’s ideas and techniques.

12:30 pm Talk with Tapestry Artists Patricia Walker & Gretchen Romey-Tanzer

1:00 pm A Docent Guided Tour of the Museum

2:00 pm…A Family Adventure With Clay…Guided by an art instructor, children and their parents will make clay creations they can take home.

3:00 pm…Gallery Talk on Aiden Lassell Ripley with Elizabeth Ives Hunter, CCMA Exec Director on the last day of this exhibition.

Hours: Saturday 9 – 5; Sunday 12 – 5; General Admission $8; free for 19 & under.
