Scavenger Hunt Celebrating 50 Years of the Cape Cod National Seashore

Forrest and Janice worked really hard over the Labor Day Weekend and won two nights in our Pent House Suite. They answered the most questions correctly on the Scavenger Hunt. We used the booklet supplied by the Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore and had an early give away at the Inn. Have been handing out booklets to our guests, so if you still have yours with your answers, be sure to send it to the address in your booklet. You will be eligible for prizes from the Friends. Thank you to the Friends for putting together such a nice booklet of information to find. All have enjoyed the challenge!

What's happening next? -- getting ready for Oyster Fest in Wellfleet. Some are training for the 5K on Saturday morning, some are honing their shucking skills, and others are toning their jaws to be ready to eat their fill of raw oysters (lobster rolls, fried oyster, Cape Cod beers, fried dough, and more.)

Book today and we will see you soon. Call 508-255-0617 or book online at www.whalewalkinn.com.

PAN MASS Race -- A Thrill a Minute as Riders Toured Cape Cod

The Pan Mass Challenge was very exciting to watch, and those riding were grateful for the spectators. Guests at the Inn were happy to cheer the riders on to Provincetown. Did get to wave to our friend, Karen, who was riding in memory of her mother, but did not see Ed go by. He must have been in a group that passed during breakfast. Congratulations to all!

If you are still planning for your summer vacation, we do have some availability. Here are some great hiking opportunities for your vacation fun. You really will like the self guided tours in the National Seashore. In Eastham, there is the Red Maple Swamp Trail, which includes new interactive stations for children, but the young at heart will have fun too. Buttonbush Trail includes a guide rope and text in Braille and large print. Doane Trail is paved and wheelchair-accessible and has vistas of Nauset Marsh. Nauset Marsh Trail winds along the edge of the Salt Pond and Nauset Marsh, crosses fields and returns to the visitor center through a recovering forest. There are several spectacular vistas along the way.

So book today, either on our website or call at 800-240-0017.

The weekend of August 5th and 6th, bike riders of all ages will be riding for the Jimmy Fund to raise money for cancer research. Cape Cod National Seashore 50th Anniversary, Eastham, MA

Exciting news -- The Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore is hosting a treasure hunt to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of John F. Kennedy's signing of the federal law to preserve the seashores along the outer Cape. Here at The Whalewalk Inn & Spa we have a great idea to add to the treasure hunt.

You can pick up a booklet of 80 questions. Find the answers and then send in the booklet to the Seashore for eligibility to win prizes. Here at the Whalewalk Inn & Spa, we are going to carry their great idea one step further. For the Labor Day Weekend, besides having our amazing smoked meat picnic on Sunday, September 4th, we will have available the booklets with this great treasure hunt upon your arrival for the weekend. On the night of the picnic, you can turn in your booklet to us and the couple with the most correct answers will win two nights at the Inn in our Pent House Suite. After that we will turn your booklets into the Seashore, so you can win even more prizes.

Book your Labor Day Weekend today -- there is a three night minimum, but you will need the time to win the first leg of the Cape Cod National Seashore Amazing Race. Remember 2 nights at the Inn in the Pent House -- Can't wait to see who the winner is!!!!!

It is 5:30 and Hors d'oeuvres are out. Tonight it is a cheese platter with an Iberico, Camenbert and a pepper Cheddar. Bring your own drinks, or we have complimentary soda and bottled water. It is a great time to share with guests -- restaurant suggestions, adventures from their day, and ideas for what to see on the following day. Sometimes we even meet guests who know people that we know. So come to Cape Cod, stay at the Inn and share in all that the Cape has to offer -- from fine dining to clam shacks, from salt water to kettle pond swimming, from mall shopping to fancy boutiques. See you at the Inn.
