Stay on Cape Cod and Celebrate the History of Thanksgiving

Start your holiday season with a November trip to Cape Cod. Relish in the history of the Cape -- from the landing of the Pilgrims to their return as settlers, and all the accomplishments that follow. See the lighthouses that guide sailors to the present. Enjoy the beauty of the many whaling captains' homes -- especially the Whalewalk Inn (see the staircase that leads to the widow's walk. Look up while outside, and see the widow's walk, where wives the the whaling captains watched for the return of their men.) Take advantage of the different activities that will be going on to celebrate Thanksgiving.

November 2, 6, 9 and 13 find the ghosts of Christmas past. The BarnstableVillage Ghost Hunters Tour will take you to Barnstable landmarks that are haunted. November 7 & 8 go to the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra where Jung-Ho Park will conduct three pieces by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Saturday's concert begins at 8, and on Sunday at 3. Call 508-362-1185 for ticket information.

The Provincetown Art Association and Museum has acquire many relics of art history over the last 95 years. Come and view the Recent Gifts to the PAAM Collection. The exhibit opens November 20th at 7:00 pm and runs through January 17. For more information call 508-487-1750.

November 21 brings you back to the 19th century at the Centerville Historical Society Christmas Tea. Learn of women's styles and fashions wile savoring teas, desserts and sandwiches. Call 508-775-0331 for reservations and details.

Also, on November 21 the Orleans' Church of the Holy Spirit Christmas Bazaar from 9 am to 3 pm. The event features hand crafted items, a children's store, cookie walk and more. Call 508-349-2362 for more information.

November 25 showcases the lighting of the Pilgrim Monument in Provincetown. The ceremony is from 5 to 7 pm and glows through January 1st. Call 508-487-1310 for more information.
