Hello from Belize

We are enjoying vacation, but keeping posted through our daughter on happenings at the Inn. A thank you to all of you who have booked so far this year. Looking forward to seeing all of you. Met Laura at the pool and she was talking about working at the Land Ho 20 years ago, and is coming to the Cape in June to show her husband around. He has never been. They are staying with us, so it will be fun to see them again and talk about Belize.

We are ready for calls from all you ladies on February 29th for our 12 hour special. Erika will be at the Inn to answer your morning calls and Heather will pick up the afternoon calls. She is busy with school in the morning.

Before the holidays bought a new book put out by the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce called "Arts and Artisans Trails." It is really nicely done and can be ordered through the Chamber. One of the trails that you can follow on your visit to the Whalewalk Inn is the Sea Captains' Trail. There were 99 sea captains who once called Brewster their home. Of course, Captain Harding's family owned our home, which is the Whalewalk Inn & Spa. We were even fortunate enough to have a great grandson of Henry stay at the Inn. They really enjoyed reading a poem written by his great, great grandmother, Lucy. It was a special time having them visit.

But, back to the Captain's trail. You can start your journey on Old Kings' Highway (Route 6A and follow it all the way to Eastham. Beginning at the Brewster General Store (still have 1 penny candy), walk the trails of Nickerson Park, where you may even stumble upon a rare pink lady's slipper, a wild orchid. Then you will pass through Orleans, the home of many fine artists and galleries (one of our favorite is Kelly Knowles.) She has some beautiful prints of Rock Harbor. The National Seashore begins at Nauset Beach in Orleans and extends 40 miles through Eastham and beyond. To view all the glory of this area, walk the trails, and shop the galleries, and this could easily take a week. So we do have mini-tour sheets that will also help, especially if you do not have a full week to enjoy the Cape. Also, this little book gives a list of galleries that you don't want to miss -- from beautiful glass pieces, pottery, fiber art, paintings, and hand crafted items.

So after you make your reservation with us -- and don't forget your spa reservations, call the Chamber for your copy of "Arts and Artisans Trails", to help you plan your perfect Cape Cod vacation.

Think Spring

As you battle the snow, cold and ice, think about the rebirth of Spring, the season of resurrection--daffodils, seedlings sprouting, scent of the mayflowers and hyacinth, birds chirping on the marshlands, birds building nests, crocus blossoms, and alewives fighting their way upstream to spawn. It is a season of hard work, especially for Mother Nature.

Take time to visit the Cape and relish in all these wonderful happenings. The Whalewalk Inn will reopen the first weekend in April. Take some time from the winter doldrums and visit Cape Cod.

Make your own deal for our grand re-opening weekend -- beginning April 4th. Stay two nights and take 10% off of your room rate; or stay two nights and the third night is free. See you soon! Oh, and don't forget to make your spa reservations.
Cannot be combined with any other offer. Does not apply to existing reservations
