Holiday Happenings

Thanksgiving was great fun and our staff family helped eat all that turkey. On Friday morning did serve the Eggs Benedict with the smoked turkey breast and bacon. The guests loved it. May be a great after Christmas brunch idea.

Attended the Nauset Artists craft fair at the Middle School. They had some really lovely items for gift giving. They showcased some lovely jewelry in gold and silver, beautiful Cape Cod paintings with our famous lighthouses, some amazingly warm and fuzzy mittens, stunning turned bowls, woven shawls, and for the little girls in your life, American Girl outfits and doll furniture. Snacks were provided by Cape Cod Cup, and the Cape Cod Chamber was selling their "Arts and Artisans Trails" book, so bought one to share with guests during the summer. There is some great information, maps and gallery hours. You can order a book of your own also by visiting the Passport to the Arts at www.artsfoundation.org.

On December 1st there will be a craft fair at Willy's Gym in Eastham. Harwich Center is hosting a holiday fair with merchant open houses, music, Santa and refreshments. The Cape Cod Symphony will present the holiday pops concert "Home for the Holidays." If you collect or just enjoy displays of model trains, you don't want to miss the display at Snows, Orleans department store. The Nauset Model Railroad Club is hosting an open house with several operating model railroad layouts.

The Inn is decorated for the upcoming holidays and lights are out in the front yard. It is very festive. The towns of Orleans and Eastham are also in the spirit of the season with beautiful lighted streets and some nice discounts.

Theatres in the area are open and are presenting their holiday favorites. At the Cultural Center of Cape Cod in Yarmouth, you can see their production of "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever." To reserve call 508-760-2001. The Academy of Performing Arts in Orleans will present "Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol," by Tom Mula. Call 508-255-1963 for details. At the Harwich Junior Theatre, "A Christmas Carol" adapted by Rob Zapple, will be showing. Call 508-432-2002 to reserve your tickets.

That's just a smattering of what is happening on Cape Cod for the holidays. Each town has many activities to put visitors in the holiday spirit. We will keep you posted on future events. If you are staying at the Inn, we will have a list for you to peruse.

Mark you calendars for New Year's Eve at the Inn. Check our Specials page for details.
