Ready for the Holidays

This past week we celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary. It was really extra special, because Kevin got a really good report from his skin doctor. I received the most beautiful pendant from Gallant Jewelers in Orleans. It was made by a local artist and it pictures a wave, the setting sun and seagulls. The wave and gulls are filled with different shades of blue sapphires. When you come to the Inn, you will have to definitely check out his store. He also has quite a collection of Cape Cod bracelets, always a nice souvenir. I gave Kevin an Orvis Zero Gravity fishing rod. It is for salt water fly fishing. So if that is something that you like to do on vacation, you can shop at Fishing the Cape in Harwich. They also offer fly fishing classes, so it is a great place for the novice or seasoned fisherman.

This weekend the weather was frightful, but our guests were enjoying their fire, and we were busy baking cookies and sweet tea breads for the coming weekend. Our guests enjoyed two nights worth of dinner at the Nauset Beach Club. Actually, they found it so wonderful the first night, that they went back for their second choices the next night. Art really does a fantastic job at his restaurant, and he also has an excellent wine list. They all enjoyed being able to relax and enjoy their rooms.

The town of Orleans is all lit up and there have been some nice sales at Snow's (our local department store.) They have a little bit of everything from paint, propane, to some lovely Cape Cod glass pieces, table linens, and their train displays. Wednesday is senior citizen day with a 10% discount, but unlike most places they consider 60 and over as "senior worthy."

Today the family begins arriving and food shopping lists are ready to go. It's always such fun to have the kids, young and old alike. All are excited about Karaoke Christmas and have been busy rehearsing their songs -- Kevin will set up the sing along in the Spa, so there is plenty of room for all the kids.

Remember, if you still need that last minute gift, we do have Gift Certificates in any amount that you would like, and our bathrobes are 20% off.

Gift Certificates and Bathrobes

Are you weary of all the shopping traffic, finding a parking space at the mall, and just not knowing what to give that someone special? Well, your problem is solved. Give the gift of relaxation and rejuvenation with a weekend at the Whalewalk Inn and a massage -- Swedish, Hot Stones or Deep Tissue. Plan now with the purchase of a gift certificate in any amount that you would like. We guarantee that you will have it by Christmas. Don't wait too long to order -- overnight mail is an added charge.

Another thoughtful gift is a Whalewalk Inn bathrobe. They are comfy and cozy, but also elegant. So shop early and we will two-night mail it to you. As a Christmas special, we will offer a 20% discount on bathrobes until December 20th. So shop early while supplies last. We carry medium and large.

Also, we do have Whalewalk Inn mugs and some wonderful rosemary and thyme glycerin soap. Really makes your skin smooth. Oh, and did you forget to buy a Christmas ornament while you were here? We have those also.

Went to the Heritage Museum's spectacle of lights. It is every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Museum through December 31st. The displays really are lovely, and at the end you get to ride on one of the few wooden carousels that are left. Stop and see this display on your way to visit us.

On December 15th the Addison Art Gallery in Orleans is having a holiday open house from 2:00 to 6:00 pm.

Plan early for New Year's Eve. Check out our package on our Specials Page of the website. Already planning for our New Year's Day Brunch.
